legendary jazz album in outstanding sound quality

"Relaxin' with the Miles Davis Quintet" is a masterpiece in every form. Miles Davis (trumpet) founded the band in 1955 with his colleagues John Coltrane (tenor saxophone), Red Garland (piano), Paul Chambers (bass) and Philly Joe Jones (drums). At that time they were not yet among the big names in the business. "Relaxing with the Miles Davis Quintet" and its counterparts from the Prestige series (Cookin', Workin' and Steamin' with the Miles Davis Quintet) re-established Miles Davis in the upper jazz league. From that point on, he and his quintet belonged to the small group of the best jazz combos ever. The recording got the name Relaxin' because of the ballad-like execution and various very light parts. The album is definitely one of Miles Davis' most lively works and one of the best examples of outstanding jazz quintets of the 20th century.
The hybrid mono SACD appears in a mini-LP cover as part of a series of 50 reissues from the legendary Prestige label. Plans call for 25 mono and 25 stereo recordings each. Mastering was done by Kevin Gray at his Cohearent Audio Studios.
