After E.S.P., Miles Smiles was the second studio release by the second Miles Davis quintet, recorded for Columbia Records and first released in 1966. The album inaugurated a landmark series of five tracks - Sorcerer, Nefertiti, Miles in the Sky, Filles de Kilimanjaro - that changed music. Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams exude vibrancy and wit, and the remastering by Rob LoVerde and Shawn R. Britton for Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab gives them extra air and separates them superbly in space. Ted Macero's excellent recording immediately conveys the intensity of the interplay and transports the listener directly into the recording studio. The album includes, among others, the tracks Ginger Bread Boy and Footprints, which Davis long kept in his live repertoire. Miles Smiles is one of the most important Davis albums and therefore in every jazz collection.
The limited edition of 3,000 copies with consecutive serial number comes in a mini LP cover with 8-page booklet.
