Ray Charles The Genius After Hours

limited numbered edition
Hybrid SACD in audiophile sound quality
made in USA
new, factory sealed
For the first time in 50 years, this hybrid mono SACD is a release of "The Genius After Hours" that can match the quality of the first pressing. Ray Charles became a legend after his move to Atlantic Records. In the 1950s, he strung together hit after hit and invented R'n'B. But Atlantic didn't want to pin the musician down to one direction and allowed him to record instrumentals that followed his jazz and blues roots. The recordings come from the three studio sessions during which "The Great Ray Charles" was also created. Charles teams up with saxophonist David "Fathead" Newman in a tried-and-true manner; trumpeter Joseph Bridgewater and bassist Oscar Pettiford round out the combo with their remarkable performances. The arrangements are by Quincy Jones. But at the center is clearly Ray Charles, unconcernedly steering the music in exactly the direction he has in mind.
Rob LoVerde did the remastering for Mobile Fidelity; the hybrid mono SACD is released in a limited edition mini LP cover with consecutive serial number.
