Miles Davis Round about Midnight
Mobile Fidelity MFSL 1-373
audiophile 180g Vinyl LP
limited numbered edition
made in USA
"'Round About Midnight" marks the beginning of over thirty years of collaboration for Miles Davis and the Columbia record label. The long-standing collaboration with the then still unknown saxophonist John Coltrane also started here. Together with Philly Joe Jones, Paul Chambers and pianist Red Garland, Davis, who had become known for bebop and cool jazz, recorded a set in 1957 that set new standards. During this time he developed into one of the coolest stars of the jazz scene, self-confident and absolutely "hip".
Musically unusual and timeless, "'Round About Midnight" becomes almost physically tangible on the MFSL reissue. Mastered by Krieg Wunderlich, the reissue traces the individual paths of each musician involved and unites them in new sonic delight. The recording was made in three sessions and never has the music sounded so immediate.
One of the jazzman's most essential recordings on Columbia Records is released in limited edition as a 180g mono vinyl LP with consecutive serial number.
