"Miles In The Sky" marks jazz giant Davis' transition from modal to fusion jazz. He already shows great ease in handling electrically amplified instruments and at the same time is ready for excursions into unknown territories. This album is the fifth and last with the second Miles Davis quintet, with which Davis made musical history. Tony Williams (percussion), Herbie Hancock (piano), Wayne Shorter (tenor sax), Ron Carter (bass) and guest George Benson (guitar) play wide-open soundscapes laced with humor, bossa nova, country and ballroom touches. Remastering by Krieg Wunderlich for Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab presents "Miles In The Sky" with even more sonic information. Benson's blues guitar seems to just breathe smoke rings into the air, you can feel William's sweaty percussion, and Hancock's piano floats above it all with sublime clarity.
The 180g vinyl LP is released as a double 45 album in gatefold sleeve in limited edition with sequential serial number.
