Tommy Flanagan Overseas
Prestige Analogue Productions SACD CPRJ 7134 SA
legendary jazz album in outstanding sound quality
new, factory sealed
When Tommy Flanagan toured Sweden with Jay Jay Johnson in 1957, his skills caught the attention of Metronome Records, among others. In the end, he held the contract for his first recording under his own name in his hands. While still touring with Johnson's quintet, Overseas was created, backed by bassist Wilbur Little and Elvin Jones on drums. Later known as the "jazz poet," Flanagan captured his listeners with a remarkably ingratiating swing and his lyrical approach to music. No wonder he also played with Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins and other greats throughout his career.
